How to Beat Stress Eating During the Holidays

Both the stress and the festivities of the holidays can make it hard to keep up a healthy diet, but going in with a plan can make it easier. A major part of maintaining a healthy weight during the holidays, and throughout the year, is to stay hydrated. About a half an hour before a meal, have at least one glass of water to help fill you up and avoid overindulging. Another way to avoid unwanted weight gain is by watching your alcohol consumption. If you don’t want to avoid grown up beverages altogether, then make healthier choices. Try to limit consuming in excess by practicing caution. Have a glass of sparkling wine or hard liquor on the rocks to avoid the extra calories from cocktails, punches, eggnogs, and other festive yet fattening beverages. You can still be merry with a glass of wine or champagne. Another technique is to have smaller beverage portions, and switch to water between drinks.
